Our 45-minute Self-Care Essentials training offers a comprehensive and interactive exploration of self-care practices that promote personal well-being and effective stress management. The training focuses on seven types of self-care, empowering participants with the knowledge and tools to adopt a realistic approach to their self-care routine. By providing a stress screening and encouraging intentionality in self-care, this training ultimately guides participants in creating a personalized self-care plan tailored to their unique needs and circumstances.

During the Self-Care Essentials training, participants will delve into the seven types of self-care: physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual, environmental, and safety/security. The session emphasizes the importance of each type and provides practical suggestions for incorporating them into daily life. Participants will also have the opportunity to undergo a stress screening, enabling them to identify areas of their lives where stress may be taking a toll and where self-care could be most beneficial.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) are evidence-based training programs designed to empower community members with the skills and knowledge to recognize and respond to mental health concerns and crises in adults and young people. These courses provide essential tools and resources for individuals to make a positive impact on the mental well-being of their friends, family members, colleagues, and neighbors.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA):

MHFA is a course that teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health concerns and substance use disorders in adults. This training provides a comprehensive overview of common mental health issues, teaches participants how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a mental health crisis, and offers practical guidance on how to provide support and connect individuals to professional help.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA):

YMHFA is specifically tailored to address the unique mental health needs of young people aged 12-18. This course helps participants understand the early warning signs of mental health concerns in adolescents, teaches effective strategies for providing support, and equips individuals with the knowledge to connect young people to appropriate mental health resources.

Key Outcomes of MHFA and YMHFA Training:

  1. Increased Awareness: Participants will gain a greater understanding of mental health concerns, risk factors, and warning signs, helping to break down stigma and promote a more compassionate and informed community.

EnCompass is a comprehensive training program that equips individuals with the knowledge and tools to better understand, prevent, and address addiction issues in their communities developed by the Addiction Policy Forum. EnCompass is an innovative, evidence-based training program designed to empower communities in addressing addiction challenges. Our certified trainers will bring this valuable resource to our community, further strengthening our commitment to improving mental health and well-being.

The program covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Understanding the science of addiction
  • Recognizing the signs and symptoms of substance use disorders
  • Identifying and accessing appropriate resources and treatment options
  • Supporting individuals and families in recovery
  • Implementing effective prevention and intervention strategies

QPR, which stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer, is an evidence-based suicide prevention training program designed to equip community members with the knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to individuals in crisis. This concise yet powerful training aims to empower participants to intervene effectively, potentially saving lives by connecting individuals to appropriate help and resources.

QPR training focuses on teaching participants three simple, yet critical, steps to help prevent suicide:

  1. Question: Learn how to recognize the signs of a suicidal crisis and how to ask the person directly about their thoughts of suicide. This step is essential in opening a compassionate and non-judgmental conversation, allowing the individual in crisis to express their feelings and concerns.
  2. Persuade: Acquire the skills to actively listen and empathize with the person in crisis, building a connection and helping them feel understood. Participants will learn how to persuade the individual to stay safe and seek help from a mental health professional or trusted support person.
  3. Refer: Gain the knowledge to connect the person in crisis to appropriate resources and professional help, ensuring they receive the support they need during their time of vulnerability.

This eye-opening program provides insights into the secretive world of teen substance use, empowering parents with the knowledge and tools to keep their children safe and address potential issues effectively.

During the Hidden In Plain Sight training, participants will explore a mock teenage bedroom filled with items and clues that may indicate substance use or risky behavior. Trained facilitators will guide parents through the room, highlighting various warning signs and discussing the significance of each item.
